Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/New_York' for 'EDT/-4.0/DST' instead in /Users/web_old/olympicswiki/inc/template.php on line 187

ROOT

Two data analysis packages have been created for ROOT, we leave it to you to figure out which one is best for what you want to do:

Mathematica

The Chameleon Mathematica package is available. To download Chameleon version 1.02:

  • Chameleon1_02.nb — This is the Mathematica notebook for Chameleon, which you can modify. When you modify and save this file from within Mathematica, a new Chameleon1_01.m is automatically created.
  • Chameleon1_02.m — A pre-compiled version of the Chameleon package.
  • ChameleonTemplate1_01.nb — A bare-bones starting template that shows how to apply muon isolation.

For information on basic usage, please look at the old Chameleon tutorial for version 0.51:

This tutorial is not guaranteed to work, but this is the best we have until full functionality of version 1.01 is documented.

Please help us test Chameleon, and report any bugs/fixes you find to toro@fas.harvard.edu and schuster@fas.harvard.edu. Also, please take a look at the revision history, bug reports, and contributed function sections below.

As of Version 1, Chameleon has been modified to read in PGS Version 4 format. This has not been thoroughly tested yet. By setting $PGSVersion=3, you can run Chameleon in backwards-compatible mode on data in the Winter 2006 LHC Olympics format. This mode has been tested even less.

More (and more useful) links will be added soon, including an up-to-date Chameleon template, up-to-date documentation, a tutorial that includes new Chameleon 1 features, and updated Chamele

n versions.

Revision History

1.02 (July 9, 2006)

  • Fixed muon isolation–now a mergeable muon is a muon that is not isolated, as it should be! (Thanks to Steve Ellis)
  • Generalized oTrigger definition to an object starting with 0 with 3 or more columns
  • RemoveTriggerObject function added, which is automatically called by InvMass and EffMass, so they can now act on an entire event (Thanks to Brent Nelson)

Bug Reports/Feature Requests

Please report bugs here in addition to sending e-mail to toro@fas.harvard.edu and schuster@fas.harvard.edu. And if you know how to fix them, please tell everyone else how! (Bug reports will be transferred up to the Revision History as they are fixed in the official Chameleon).

Contributed Features

Did you add a great new function to Chameleon? Post it on the wiki for others to use.
